THE HARBINGER - Simply Summarized

By Jonathan Cahn

Summarized & Organized By Diane Matson

America is the most blessed nation on earth.  Dedicated to God by the founders.
So God shielded by a powerful hedge of national protection.
Following God = prosperity, power, peace, and security.

When God is replaced by pursuit of idols and gain…
Shield removed.  Protective hedge gone.  Result - 9/11.

Isaiah 9:10

               The bricks have fallen down,
               but we will rebuild with dressed stone;
the fig trees have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars.
That is what we will do.

In The Harbinger, Cahn wrote, “These words were first uttered by leaders in Israel and in response to a limited strike by Assyria on the lands of Zebulun and Naphtali – an attack the prophet makes clear is actually part of a limited judgment by God against apostasy.

It wasn’t meant to destroy the nation, but to awaken it.”

God was replaced by pursuit of idols and gain.  Israel didn’t take the cue.

Instead, the response from the people in Isaiah 9:10 is one of defiance. The brick buildings were toppled, but they vowed to build bigger and better. The little sycamore trees may have been uprooted, but they vowed to plant bigger and better cedars in their place. They were defiant against God.

God, speaking through Isaiah, explained what would happen as a result of their pride, arrogance, and failure to heed the harbinger, bigger and more potent attacks would follow. Because neither the Northern Kingdom of Israel nor the Southern Kingdom of Judah truly repented.  Israel was eventually swept away by Assyrian invaders; Judah was carried off into captivity by the Babylonians for 70 (7x10) years.

Why 70?
Turning from God to money and idols, they failed to follow His command to let the land rest every 7th year.
Result: God forced them to make up the time by a long Sabbatical.

The Sabbatical created rest in all areas:
Financial, economic
Labor, employment
Consumption, production, trade

During the Sabbatical:
Production decreased - fields lay fallow
Labor greatly reduced
Fields become, in part, possessed by all
Buying and selling of land’s produce restricted
Fruits of labor abandoned
Credit cancelled, debt wiped away

9/11/2001 - God removed the hedge of protection.

September 12, 2001

 Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle
In an effort to bring the nation hope and reassurance, he read from the Isaiah 9:10 passage:

      The bricks have fallen down,
      but we will rebuild with dressed stone;
the fig trees have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars.
That is what we will do.

“Daschle has no idea what he is doing here.  He thinks he’s offering comforting words to a grief-stricken people, but he is actually embracing the spiritually defiant and arrogant words of the children of Israel, proclaiming the ancient and ominous vow of the leaders of that nation. He doesn’t realize it, but he is actually inviting more judgment on the nation.”

the fig trees have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars
Daschle didn’t know there was an actual sycamore tree felled by 9/11 at Ground Zero, and that it bore the same name as the fallen tree of Isaiah 9:10.
“Fig” is English translation of Hebrew word “shakam,” which means “fig-mulberry.”   It is our modern day “sycamore” tree.
A few years later, someone donated an “Erez” tree (today called a “cedar” tree) which was planted where the fig/sycamore tree used to be.

Sept. 14, 2001
On the third day after 9/11, a construction worker, standing in the ruins, saw a 20 foot cross, perfectly shaped, created by cast iron beams from the fallen towers.  It became known as The Cross of Ground Zero.

Rather than turning to God, America tried to fix the problem with military and politics
o The Dept. of Homeland Security was established.
o War on Terror (Afghanistan, Iraq) - cost billions - diverted from investment.
o War on Iraq raised oil prices, and drained more money, skyrocketing National Debt.

3 Years Later
Sept. 11, 2004
The Vice President, in a speech, also quoted Is. 9:10 - by accident.
John Edwards read the same passage.

July 5, 2004
The bricks have fallen down,
               but we will rebuild with dressed stone;
A 20-ton Gazit stone, quarried out of the Adirondack Mountains in New York, was placed, as a cornerstone, on Ground Zero, where the fallen bricks had laid.

Sept. 11, 2001
Wall Street shut down - for 6 days.

Sept. 17, 2001
Wall Street opened and suffered the largest point crash at that point in Wall Street history.

o Lowering interest rate (already lowered 6 weeks earlier).
o Continuing to lower it until it was below the rate of inflation (equivalent of creating free money).
o Set up easy money (loans, credit, mortgages, etc.),  creating a credit bubble.
o The world followed America’s lead, creating their own credit bubbles.
o Massive credit lending created massive debt. - personal, corporate, governmental

The progression of judgment advances in times of calamity and crisis, but equally in times of apparent recovery, normalcy, and resurgence, booming economies, and prosperity.  Whether above or below the surface, the progression continues.

Would America head toward God, or toward judgment?

Sept. 11, 2008
ECOMOMIC FALL - 7 years after 9/11:

Early in Sept. 2008
Half the U.S. mortgage market was backed by the Federal National Mortgage Association and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation.
Sept. 7, 2008
Seeing they were teetering on edge of collapse, the govt. seized control of them.
Sept. 9, 2008
Lehman Brothers - major financial firm, lost 45% of its value.
Sept. 10, 2008
Lehman Brothers announced loss of 4 billion dollars.
Sept. 11, 2008
Lehman Brothers stock took a deep plunge.
Federal Reserve set up emergency meeting.
Sept. 12, 2008
Govt. informs Lehman Brothers it won’t save them
- 7 years after Isaiah 9:10 announced by Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle.
Sept. 15, 2008
Lehman Brothers - unable to cover debt and expenses, filed for bankruptcy.
It was the largest govt. bailout in history - 7 hundred billion dollars.

Wall Street collapsed - 777 points on stock market were wiped away (7% of market points), resulting in
global financial implosion.

·        Rise and fall of credit market
·        War in Iraq
·        Collapse of housing market, foreclosures
·        Defaults
·        Bankruptcies
Sept. 2008 happens to be the 7th month of Hebrew year - Tishri

God forced a Sabbatical on America

The Sabbatical created rest in all areas:
Financial, economic
Labor, employment
Consumption, production, trade

During the Sabbatical:
Production decreased - fields lay fallow
Labor greatly reduced
Fields become, in part, possessed by all
Buying and selling of land’s produce restricted
Fruits of labor abandoned
Credit cancelled, debt wiped away

Feb. 27, 2009
President Obama, one month after his inauguration, the first time he addressed Congress and the nation said,
“I want every American to know this….We will rebuild.”

Commentary on Is. 9:10 - “The nation boasted that they would rebuild their devastated country.”
Pres. Obama - “We will rebuild.  We will recover.”

Commentary on Is. 9:10 -  “…and make it stronger and more glorious than ever.”
Pres. Obama - “And the United States of America will emerge stronger than ever before.”

April 30, 1789 - America’s first national capital was in New York City.
Bells rang, calling the nation to church to commit the govt. to the holy protection and blessing of God.

Written on the statue of George Washington, facing the New York Stock Exchange:
“On this site in Federal Hall, April 30, 1789 George Washington took the oath as first President of the United States of America.”
Statue of George is a memorial and witness of the day the warning was given, right in front of the New York Stock Exchange - the symbol of America’s prosperity, as it collapsed.

After Pres. Washington gave his inaugural address, he led the Senate and House of Representatives,  on foot, from the Federal Building, to a little stone church (St. Paul’s Chapel) for prayer and dedication.  They  prayed for two hours.

     • Originally, the little church faced the opposite direction from where it sits today.

     • To walk into the chapel, you’d have to walk through Ground Zero.

     • Ground Zero was a field, owned by the church, which stretched between the church and the water.

Ancient Principal:
“The ground of dedication becomes the ground of calamity….the judgment returns to the ground of consecration.”

Sept. 11, 2001
Every building around the church collapsed, but the church didn’t.
The sycamore tree shielded it from force of the implosion and flying wreckage of the falling towers.

After 9/11, people were drawn to St. Paul’s Chapel.  It became a spiritual focal point for the community.  The iron fence around it was covered with pictures, prayers, messages, etc.

God likes to use 7 year cycles.

9 / 11 / 2001 - Protection removed, America attacked.

Sept. 2008 - Economy turns rocky.  Unusual natural disasters hit the U.S. semi-regularly and the economy economy looks like a roller-coaster, often dipping in September.  Impending financial disaster hangs over the nation, and the world.

I think God is waiting 7 years for America to turn back to Him.  Each year, unprecedented events hit.

So if America, as a nation, does not return to God….

9 / 11 / 2015 - CRASH!  BOOM!
All threats hanging over America’s head which have been pushed off into the future come to fruition.

     Result: True national collapse.

My Entertaining Saved My Friend’s Life!

My Entertaining Saved My Friend's Life!

Yesterday, a friend called me and said, “I need you to entertain me so I don’t pass out from a possible concussion.”  That’s a new one.

He has a sensitive vagus nerve, which occasionally results in him passing out. He accidentally hurt his hand while doing chores, and the pain caused his nerve to flare and he passed out, smashing face-first into a hard floor. Waking up, with glasses broken, face hurting, and extremely dizzy, he laid down on his back as sitting or standing made him dizzy. Laying on the floor with nothing to do, we both figured that until his mom  arrived to take him to the doctor, keeping him awake was probably a good idea.  (It’d also allow me to monitor him, in case he suddenly stopped sounding coherent or quit responding entirely.)

So I swung into action, located various story-jokes about cats and dogs on my PC.  We laughed and  wiped tears from our eyes until he said it no longer made him dizzy to sit up.

He was fine, but if he hadn’t been, my entertainment could have saved his life!

We got to thinking how much odder things would have been if he had lost consciousness, because I live in the U.S. and he lives in Canada, so a 911 call would get me an American emergency dispatch agent.  I probably would have called our mutual friend in Toronto, who could dial 911 and get through to Canadian Emergency Dispatch. What a call of confusion that would be…

DISPACH: 911.  What’s your emergency?

TORONTO FRIEND:  My friend might have a concussion and just lost consciousness.
DISPACH: And what is your location?

TORONTO FRIEND:  Well, I’m in Toronto, but my friend is in Manitoba.
DISPACH: Ma’am we only take serious calls.

TORONTO FRIEND:  I am serious!  My friend hit his head when he passed out a few minutes ago.

DISPACH:  So you were on the phone with him when he passed out?

TORONTO FRIEND:  No.  He was alone.  Are you listening?!  He is all by himself, in his apartment, and likely has a concussion!

DISPACH:  Please stay calm Ma’am.  So then he called you from what address?  What address did he call you from?

TORONTO FRIEND: He didn’t call me.  He called our friend in the U.S.

DISPACH: So your friend is in the U.S.?

TORONTO FRIEND:  No.  He’s in Manitoba, but he called our actress-friend in America to keep him entertained and awake until his mom could drive him to the doctor!

Need to stay conscious?  Give me a call and I’ll keep you laughing until you are safe!

Just Seussing Around

I've been busy doing some Dr. Seuss shows, dealing with technical "stuff" and trying to stay on top of things.
Finally got out a new Newsletter a few weeks ago (last one was in Sept - YIKES!)

Nothing like a newsletter (put together by the awesome Julie Ruffell and Trish Ellis), to kick up YouTube views for the stories I perform (filmed and edited by Deous of Area 51 Productions).

Checked out the # of story views. Moving along, though a long ways from the millions required to get serious attention. Still, I'm pleased with the progress.

I'm amused the story with the most views is an oral story, told to me by my father, when I was in bed. Way to go Dad!
